To celebrate Weekly Shonen Jump‘s 25th anniversary, Shueisha decided to create a new style event to promote it’s history for the fans. The name of the event was called “Weekly Jump Multi World” and was a exhibition that was held in the Tokyo Dome Prism Hall between July 28th through August 15th, 1993. The event cost 700 yen for admission and guests were able to receive as special booklet which highlighted some of the items on display. The booklet was never available for sale directly. Over 48 authors provided new illustrations and congratulatory messages for this anniversary and are documented in this booklet and this is one of them. To help provide context to this profile that was captured in 1993, we have included some additional information to supplement the transcription and rough English translation.

To celebrate Weekly Shonen Jump‘s 25th anniversary, Keishu Ando provided this illustration, shikishi, and comment, which have been roughly translated below:

Congratulations on the magazine’s 25th anniversary. With it being 25 years, and I’m now 24, you can say I’m a classmate of Weekly Shonen Jump.
I first read Jump when I was in elementary school, which was hugely popular there and in the neighborhood. I looked forward to reading it every week. Now I’m happy and honored to be able to work next to such popular artists.
As classmates, let’s keep going until we both have grey hair!? Let’s use our current strength and expand our entertainment power as we continue to reign over the world of manga.
In the middle of the article, there is a short description of the on-going Kyukyoku!! Hentai Kamen manga series. The article ends with a 4-panel manga titled “Friendship” (友情) which was enlarged and shown on display at the Jump Multi World event in 1993. A rough English translation of the manga is included below:

Panel 1:
“Seriously, where did he run off to? I wanted to hang out with him after school before going home…”
Panel 2:
“Cough up yer dough.”
“Gaa!”
“What’s that!”
Panel 3:
“Are you messing with my friend?”
“Uoof”
“Kyosuke! You’ve saved me!”
Panel 4:
“Aahh! Kamezo, are you holding up okay after being trampled…”
“…Ehh?”
The following is some additional context and information not included in the article:
The Heavy Metal Isn’t Just for Decoration! oneshot was an honorable mention for the 31st Akatsuka Award in 1989. This oneshot was later reprinted in the original 6th manga volume of Kyukyoku!! Hentai Kamen.
Prior to the full serialization of the series starting in 1990 he created three oneshots that would become the basis of the manga. The oneshots were originally published in the following magazine issues and were later included as extras in the volume releases.
- Weekly Shonen Jump 1990 Summer Special
- Weekly Shonen Jump 1990 Autumn Special
- Weekly Shonen Jump issue 16 in 1992
For the Weekly Shonen Jump 1990 Summer Special, Keishu Ando provided this author comment (with a rough English translation):
今回、とても楽しく描かせていただきました。でも見直してみると何か情けないものが・・・。感想をヨロシクッ!!
For this, I had a lot of drawing it. But now that I look back at it, it may seem a bit pathetic…. Please give me some feedback!!
Then for the Weekly Shonen Jump 1990 Autumn Special, Keishu Ando continued with an update based on the second oneshot for the series:
「じゃあこれ描き直しね」と担当氏。「ひえ~つ」と私。・・・という訳で、まだまだ発展途上の私に、脈打つような熱い感想待ってます!!
“Why don’t you redraw this” my editor said. “Eehh~” I replied. …So I’m still trying to figure this out, so please send any additional help to me!!
With the final oneshot before serialization, in Weekly Shonen Jump issue 16 in 1992 he provided this comment with his continued look for feedback:
ちょっと変態だけどカッコイイ主人公・狂介!どうでしたか?感想を聞かせてね!
Kyosuke may be a bit of a pervert, but he’s a cool main character! What do you think? Let me know your thoughts!
The Kyukyoku!! Hentai Kamen manga series had a total of 53 chapters published in Weekly Shonen Jump, and ended in issue 46 in 1993.
