To celebrate Weekly Shonen Jump‘s 25th anniversary, Shueisha decided to create a new style event to promote it’s history for the fans. The name of the event was called “Weekly Jump Multi World” and was a exhibition that was held in the Tokyo Dome Prism Hall between July 28th through August 15th, 1993. The event cost 700 yen for admission and guests were able to receive as special booklet which highlighted some of the items on display. The booklet was never available for sale directly. Over 48 authors provided new illustrations and congratulatory messages for this anniversary and are documented in this booklet and this is one of them. To help provide context to this profile that was captured in 1993, we have included some additional information to supplement the transcription and rough English translation.

Congratulations on the Weekly Shonen Jump 25th anniversary!!
From being an assistant on Katsura-sensei’s “Wing-man” to winning the Fresh Jump Award, to my first serialization “Sasuke Ninden”, and then series “Machinryu Varion”, “Hengen Sennin Asuka♡”, and “Fushigi Hunter”, my life as a mangaka has always been with Jump. (Although monthly now)
Please continue to drive shonen manga forward for your 50th, 100th, and anniversaries beyond.
I won’t be stopped and will keep drawing interesting manga as well.
The middle of the article gives a summary from 3 of his manga series. Fushigi Hunter ran for 17 chapters in Weekly Shonen Jump between issues 32 and 48 in 1990. Hengen Sennin Asuka♡ ran for 18 chapters in Weekly Shonen Jump between issues 23 and 40 in 1988. Demon God Child Zenki was still ongoing in Monthly Shonen Jump with its start in the December issue in 1992.
The following is some additional context and information not included in the article:
The Wing-Man series by Masakazu Katsura was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump between issues 5-6 in 1983 through issue 39 in 1985 for a total of 113 chapters.
Yoshihiro Kuroiwa’s first published oneshot was in the 1983 December issue of Fresh Jump under the title Mysterious Maiko This won the 52nd Fresh Jump Award.
In the 1984 November issue of Fresh Jump, the oneshot Uru fu ni omakase (うるふにおまかせ) was published. This was part of 4 oneshots being published in the issue by new artists in the magazine. For the author’s comment in the issue, Yoshihiro Kuroiwa left this comment:
一年ぶりにフレジャンに復活。これからもがんばります。応援ヨロシクね!
I’m back in Fresh Jump after a year. I’ll keep doing my best. Please support me!
Sasuke Ninden was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump between issues 32 and 41 in 1986 for a total of 10 chapters.
Machinryu Varion was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump between issues 22 and 32 in 1987 for a total of 11 chapters.
Prior to the publication of Fushigi Hunter, a stand alone book called Fushigi Hunter Special was published on May 15, 1990. This contained the previous oneshots of Fushigi Hunter that were drawn and written by Yoshihiro Kuroiwa prior to serialization.
Fushigi Hunter was the first manga series where Yoshihiro Kuroiwa only provided the artwork. The story was written by Yukihiro Iizuka The author had also previously written the 3 chapter oneshot series Monster Hunter (モンスターハンター) which was published in the seasonal Weekly Shonen Jump issues starting in the Autumn 1987 issue.
Prior to it’s full serialization, Demon God Child Zenki was originally a oneshot manga that debuted in the August 1992 issue of Monthly Shonen Jump. Just like the full serialization, this was written by Kikuhide Tani (谷菊秀) and drawn by Yoshihiro Kuroiwa. For this oneshot, Yoshihiro Kuroiwa gave this author’s comment in the table of contents for the magazine (with a rough English translation provided here):
MJ初登場です。いろんなお便り、感想待ってますのでよろしく!!
This is my first Monthly Jump appearance. I look forward to getting your messages, so please send them in!!
The serialization of Demon God Child Zenki would continue to be published in Monthly Shonen Jump from the December 1992 issue through September 1996. For the first author comment of the new serialization, Yoshihiro Kuroiwa provided this comment (with a rough English translation provided here):
いよいよ新連載。ムチャクチャ気合いはいってるので、よろしく!!
The new series is finally here! I’m working really hard on it, so please give it a read!!
The Demon God Child Zenki manga series would later be printed in 12 volumes by Shueisha. The oneshot of the story was included as an extra in the 5th volume of the series.
